1. When and where is the Color Fun Run?

SQMS’s  3rd Annual Color Fun Run will take place on campus, on Friday, March 2nd, 2018, from 9 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.  EC, Lower, Upper and Questa will have separate run times. Check the Itinerary tab for more information.  Remember that March 2nd is an Early Release day from school.

2. Who can participate?

The Color Fun Run is the main fundraiser for Summit Questa Montessori School PTO.
During the run, our field will be transformed into a colorful track and the students will run laps, participate in exercise challenges, dance, skip, and keep moving to the music provided by our DJ and awesome MC!   Our students are asked to get pledges from family, friends, community members, in exchange for their promise to keep moving during their time on the track!  The best part is, we will have parent volunteers dousing them with color throughout the event!

4. What happens if my child does not raise their goal of $75 dollars?

All students are invited to participate in the event, whether they raise donations or not.

5. Where does the money raised go?

Each year the Color Fun Run provides funds for many fun, educational, and enriching programs the PTO organizes throughout the school year, including:

  • Family Arts Night
  • Teacher and Staff Appreciation events
  • Welcome Back Teacher gifts and Parent events
  • Meet the Parents night
  • Trunk or Treat
  • Barnes and Noble night
  • Gift cards at Bridging ceremonies

In the past couple of years, we’ve also dedicated funds to the:

  • Establishment and expansion of our sports program
  • Enhancement of campus grounds
  • Assist with purchase of new bus
  • Technology improvements

This coming year, along with our continued activities, based on parent input, we are allocating funds to enhance the Fine Arts Program and invite outside experts to present on invaluable topics such as anti-bullying, cyber awareness, etc.

6. How can I best use my student donation page?

You can connect with your family and friends on directly through your personal webpage, using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and email. You’ll find those icons on the top right of your donation page.
For additional donation pledge sheets, a sample thank you letter, and a personalized QR fundraising flyer, click on the “Student Resources” link on the bottom right of your page.

7. I do not want to donate online; how else can I donate?

Cash donations are also accepted. Drop off any cash to the main office in a sealed envelope with the Student’s full name, class name, and well as any pledge sheets with donor information.

8. Can a business sponsor me?

Yes, anyone can donate to participants. Businesses can receive a tax deductible letter from the PTO. Contact us at pto@summitquesta.com

9. Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes, your donation is tax deductible. Contact us at pto@summitquesta.com   Please provide your full address to receive a tax donation letter.

10. I am a participant, what should I wear to the Color Fun Run?

  • Please wear the official Color Fun Run t-shirt distributed during Spirit Week through school or a plain white cotton t-shirt and white cotton bottoms.  This is mainly so that the array of color is brightly visible on the kids while participating.
  • We recommend wearing older clothes and shoes, although most, if not all, of the dye will wash out of natural fibers such as cotton.

11. What is the color made of?

  • The powder is made in India from arrowroot.  (Food grade arrowroot is commonly used as a food thickener)
  • The color is from herbal extraction rather than a synthetic dye.

12. Color Safety:

  • The powder is not an irritant to the eye. Volunteers are instructed to throw color away from the face and eyes.
  • We will also supply colorful sunglasses to all participants, which are theirs to keep.
  • Baby wipes will be available after the run for kids to easily wipe off any color that gets on the face.

13. How does the Color come off?

  • If dry, most of the color can be shaken off. But we do suggest that each child bring a change of clothes and a towel.
  • Changing stations will be set up throughout the school.
  • For the car ride home, laying down a towel will help prevent staining of light colored car seats.
  • Although most of the dye will wash out of natural fibers such as cotton, some participants find bleach is helpful to remove any remaining color

14. How does the Auction work?

We are auctioning off a select number of unique items and experiences as part of our fundraiser.
The Auction will start on the Monday of Spirit Week, Feb 26th at 8:30 a.m.   It will close on Friday, March 2nd at 11:59 p.m. EST.
In order to bid, you will have to register an account on our fundraiser website. Winners will be contacted on Monday, March 5th to coordinate payment and redemption.

15. What is it I hear about a raffle?

We are holding a school wide raffle,
  • one for 4 tickets to Aquatica
  • and another for 4 tickets to Disney World.
Students who reach their goal of $75 will get three entries in the raffle and will get an additional entry for every $25 they raise after the initial $75.
